Introduction to Project Retrospect

Survivors Empowered Through Art, Inc (SETA) is a non-profit agency pending 501(c)3 status, dedicated to raising awareness about sexual assault, including military sexual trauma, through art and narrative storytelling. Our current projects including Speaking Out: Why I Stand and out new project, Project Retrospect: Flipping the Script on Rape.

Project Retrospect: "Flipping the Script on Rape" is a new project aimed at changing the way we think about rapists, victims, and sexual assault prevention. When we as a society look at sexual assault, it is easy for some to jump to victim blaming. How much did the victim have to drink? Why was the victim alone with him? Well men can't be raped so he must be gay.  The real question is, why are we not blaming the rapist?  Why not ask, why do rapists feel entitled to rape and how are they getting away with it?

Project Retrospect aims to change the way we think about rape by allowing survivors, advocates, and the community to ask a hypothetical rapist a question. We will then portray those questions artistically for gallery showings and community education.
